The Clear Active Preamp (CAP BASS)

The Clear Active Preamp (CAP BASS) was designed to boost your bass tone with power and clarity. It brings the practicality bassists need, allowing you to “activate” your bass without modifying its original wiring and enabling direct line connection.

It features two circuits in one box — an active preamp (EQ) and a built-in DI (Direct Box).
The preamp uses a 3-band Baxandall EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble).
At the knob’s center position, the EQ remains relatively flat, providing precise boost or cut across the desired frequency ranges.

🔧 Usage Possibilities

1 – Direct / Recording
Connect your bass and pedalboard directly in line using the DI OUT or PRE OUT outputs for recording or live mixing.

2 – Into a Power Amp
Use it as a preamp directly into a power amplifier or the return of a bass amp via PRE OUT.

3 – Tone Shaping
Insert it mid-chain as a buffer with EQ, using PRE OUT while keeping it always on.
This setup gives you finer tonal control and enhanced clarity.

4 – Flat Booster
With EQ centered and volume boosted, it acts as a powerful clean signal/volume booster with minimal tonal coloration.

• PRE OUT → Preamp output, unbalanced (¼” jack).

• DI OUT (XLR or ¼”) → Balanced output for direct connection to mixers or audio interfaces.

• LED → Indicates circuit power (always on).

• ON/OFF Switch → Bypasses only the preamp section for all outputs.
