Red Briton is Tone Ink’s new “Marshall in a Box”: a responsive drive pedal that ranges from a mild overdrive to a powerful distortion. It was designed for versatility, moving between tones that emulate the “break-up point” of a JTM45 and the aggressive character of a JCM800.
PUNCH SWITCH
The 3 Punch voices (BB, Guv, and Angry) allow simultaneous adjustment of gain and bass in the distortion stage, controlling how hard the circuit is driven and shaping the overall tone.
-
Guv: ideal for low tunings, offering tighter lows and clearer power chords.
-
Angry: great for solos or single-coil guitars that need more body.
-
BB: features a stronger bass cut, providing better definition at lower gain levels — reminiscent of the classic Blues Breaker sound.
COMP SWITCH
The 3 Comp settings define the headroom and distortion texture through different clipping types. The resulting sound behaves like a power attenuator on a tube amp — reducing overall volume and allowing more saturation in the gain stages.
-
100w: more headroom, louder, less compression.
-
50w: balanced, moderate compression.
-
25w: more compression and quicker saturation, lower volume (can be compensated via volume knob).
FULL EQ
The Bass, Mid, and Treble controls are active, adding or cutting frequencies.
The secret lies in the Mid control — its frequency center was tuned to maintain a defined tone with a “scooped” feel, ideal for low tunings or achieving the legendary “Brown Sound” made famous by Eddie Van Halen.
Boosting mids results in a more vintage tone with better presence in a mix.
