The Tone Creamer is the new booster overdrive from Tone Ink. It was designed to “warm up” the guitar signal and bring out the most distinctive sonic elements found in iconic circuits of this category — whether a treble booster like the COT 50, a TS-style overdrive such as the BB Preamp, a clean preamp like the RC Booster, or even a Plexi-style drive.

Following the line of the brand’s other designs, it is a multi-voice pedal that offers highly responsive and adjustable controls — an excellent alternative for players seeking distinct tonal options in a single pedal.

HEAT SWITCH (MID PEAK)

Controls the mid peak frequency and the overall saturation of the pedal. Both gain and emphasis on these frequencies increase as the gain control is raised.

  • CLEAR – Provides brightness, definition, and low saturation, emphasizing mid/high frequencies typical of the Marshall Bluesbreaker family pedals such as the King of Tone or Morning Glory.
TIP: When used with low gain and in RC mode, it enhances pick dynamics and single-coil character — ideal for funky, soulful rhythm parts or when used with effects like compressor, chorus, and modulation.

  • GREEN – Produces the classic mid-hump with moderate gain, typical of the TS family, and can sound slightly compressed like TS9, TS808, FullDrive, Green Rhino, or BB Preamp.
TIP: When paired with BB mode, it emphasizes midrange frequencies reminiscent of blues icons such as Stevie Ray Vaughan. When stacked with other drives, it provides a tighter response for cascading gain stages without losing definition.

  • RED – Emphasizes low-mids with slightly higher gain, adding body and saturation compared to GREEN, yet still moderate for a distortion-level effect.
TIP: Used with COT mode, it delivers a low-gain OCD-style drive. To smooth harshness, set the Treble control around 9 o’clock.

CREAM SWITCH

Determines the saturation dynamics and texture, ranging from smooth to crunchy. Technically, it changes the clipping configuration and circuit position. Sonically, it simulates the compression behavior of different overdrive circuits.

  • RC – No clipping. Offers more headroom and volume, resulting in a cleaner and more dynamic tone with minimal compression.
TIP: Start with low or no gain and high volume to achieve full transparency and adjust according to your instrument.

  • BB – Soft clipping using six silicon diodes, similar to TS9/808 or BB Preamp, but with greater headroom. Produces a mildly compressed, “soft” tone.
TIP: In GREEN mode, it delivers a TS-style tone. In CLEAR, a more transparent tone reminiscent of the Bluesbreaker family. RED mode provides more body and low-mid emphasis.

  • COT – Hard clipping after the second gain stage, as in the King of Tone. Produces a crunchy tone typical of Marshall-style drive pedals.
TIP: In CLEAR mode, it acts as a COT-style treble booster; in GREEN, it delivers more mids and gain; and in RED, it approaches a Plexi-style tone.

BAXANDALL ACTIVE EQ

Located after the gain stages, this EQ allows boosting or cutting specific frequencies without muddying the earlier stages. The Bass and Treble controls are active and based on the RC Booster and BB Preamp circuits. Their impact varies depending on the HEAT switch position.
